Polytechnic University of Leiria Maintains Platinum Certification in the World Healthy Campus Program

The Polytechnic University of Leiria welcomed one of the first audits conducted at Portuguese higher education institutions that are part of the global Healthy Campus project by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), ensuring the maintenance of its Platinum certification, the highest level in the program.

Holder of the Platinum seal since 2022, the institution underwent the FISU audit on May 16 and 17, to evaluate the continued compliance with the parameters established in the project. These parameters relate to developing excellent programs in Physical Activity and Sports, Nutrition, Disease Prevention, Mental and Social Health, Risk Behavior Prevention, Environment, Sustainability, and Social Responsibility.

«The maintenance of this certification is only possible thanks to the effort of the 28 members of the Polytechnic University of Leiria’s Healthy Campus team, as well as all the organic units and services involved in developing good practices in the various areas that make up the Healthy Campus for the entire academic community,” says Carlos Rabadão, president of the Polytechnic University of Leiria.

Following the application submitted in December 2020, which met FISU’s 100 established criteria and allowed the Polytechnic University of Leiria to become the first polytechnic higher education institution to secure the Healthy Campus certification, the program once again recognizes “the institutional strategy and the work developed in favor of the quality of life and well-being of the academic community.»

«As a public higher education institution, the Polytechnic University of Leiria accepts the everyday challenge of making its academic community more active and healthy. Furthermore, we also seek to ensure that our students and graduates acquire personal, social, and resilience skills and the necessary values to be better professionals and citizens”, highlights Carlos Rabadão.
