This cycle of studies is predominantly professionalizing, has as its main objective to qualify for teaching in the area of «Childhood Educator and Teacher of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education» ( see Decree-Law Nº 43/2007 of 22 February and Decree-Law Nº 79/2014 of 14May); to deepen scientific, didactical, pedagogical knowledge related with early childhood and primary education; to consolidate skills in planning, assessment, reflection, and critical analysis adequate to diversified educational contexts; to develop practices of learning environment management using differentiated pedagogy strategies; to develop life long research, intervention and learning capacities. It seeks to develop theoretical and operational competences that allow to have a reflection and intervention that are adequate for diversified educational contexts, more specifically early childhood and 1st cycle of BE as a complementary training to the undergraduate degree in Basic Education.
