Manuel Mozos

OPEN CLASSES OF CONTEMPORARY ARTISTIC PRACTICES_2024_25
NOVEMBER 20TH OF 2024, 5.30PM
ROOM 34 OF EP1 – ESAD.CR

Starting with an overview of my path through cinema, as a spectator, a student at the conservatory and of my work in various sectors connected to this activity, namely in editing, as a film director, employee and researcher at ANIM – Cinemateca Portuguesa, I will try to establish an approach to the history of cinema in general and of Portuguese cinema in particular, focussing on themes such as: the creation and making of films; production; technical issues and their evolution; exhibition and changes in the ways of seeing and making; the development of cinema policies and key dates; censorship; fiction, documentary and other types of film; conservation, preservation, restoration and digitalisation and any other subjects that may arise in the course of a dialogue that is intended to be created with the attending audience.

Manuel Mozos was born in Lisbon in 1959. He studied film from 1981 to 1984 at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. He worked as an editor, screenwriter, annotator and film director’s assistant.
In 1989 he made his first film. Since then, he has made more than twenty films, including fiction and documentaries, shorts and features.
He collaborates regularly with publications, schools, institutes, universities, cultural and film associations, cinéclubs and festivals. Since 2002 he has worked at the Cinemateca Portuguesa as a senior technician at ANIM.
