Contemporary Curatorial Practices 2024
This series of talks invites reflection on curating in the various fields of design, architecture, biennials, museums, exhibitions and festivals. Each talk will be mediated by a pair of ESAD.CR students and will feature curators – all teachers at the school – who will share their experiences and perspectives on the challenges and possibilities of contemporary curating. Together, they will explore key themes such as the tensions between authorial and institutional curating, the research methodologies that guide the creation of artistic and cultural programmes, and the role of the curator as an agent of reflection and critical thinking in the current context. This cycle seeks to offer a broad view of curatorial practices, highlighting their impact on the contemporary artistic, cultural and social scene. The aim is to create a space for open dialogue between professionals and students, where the most innovative curatorial methodologies are discussed and questioned, reflecting the transformations of the field and its link with today’s society.
